When can I come in?
There are generally 2 sessions available each day, a morning
session starting at 10am and an afternoon session starting at 2pm.
Please be punctual. If you are early you will be asked to come back
at the time you have booked and if you are late the time will be
taken off your session. Please give an idea of your availability
in the form above.
What do I get for £100?
You can spend up to 3 hours with an editor who will author
your showreel for you, listening to your input at every stage. Note
that you do not have to be present during the edit process (see
the relevant FAQ for details). You will receive a copy of the finished
showreel on DVD. We only use professional media. The DVD will be
fully printed in either black & white or colour (the print is
waterproof and scratchproof) and is available in a clear clam case.
Why do you use clam cases?
These are lightweight, protective and cheap to post your DVD to
agents and casting directors. (A printed DVD inside this case is
4mm thick and weighs 40g which is well within the new royal mail
size and weight restrictions for the cheapest postage option.) We
also offer clear plastic sleeves and other packaging options (Amaray
original library cases are available for an extra fee or we have
a few budget library cases remaining which you may substitute for
the clam cases). Please state your preferences in the form above.
(Clam cases are also known as clamshell, c-shell or snug cases.)
What formats do you accept?
You can bring in (or send us) your original footage on
most major formats, including:
• VHS (also S-VHS and VHS-C)
• DVD (also VCD and most disc formats)
• MiniDV (also full size DV)
• DVCam (small and large size)
• Betacam SP (small and large size)
• Audio cassette (audio only)
• Most computer formats, including Quicktime, MP3 etc.
What should I bring with me?
You will need to bring (or send us) all your original footage as
well as an idea of what it is you want and also preferably a headshot
so that we can put your image on the DVD face and/or packaging.
The headshot can be as a print or a negative.
Can you clean up my old VHS footage?
VHS tapes can be prone to video "noise" and jitter. Your
footage will be run through a Timebase Corrector as well as Digital
Noise Reduction to compensate for any defects and ensure the quality
is maximised.
Can I set my showreel to music?
You may have a music track playing during your showreel, as part
of a montage or as background music in a DVD menu. All music must
be provided by you. Please note that we will not be held responsible
for any breaches in copyright. You should clear any legal rights
issues with the musicians and/or publishers before using any music.
Do I have to be present during the editing?
No. You can send us all your footage and a list of which scenes
you would like in your showreel and in which order you would like
them. The list should be both as a timecode (e.g. from 1 minute
14 seconds to 2 minutes 38 seconds) and a scene description (e.g.
from when young girl enters the room until line "hello world"
inclusive). We will then put together your showreel and send it
to you along with your original video.
How long should my showreel be?
Generally no more than 4 or 5 minutes long. If you want to send
your showreel to Spotlight for online streaming, their limit is
5 minutes. CastNet now also have a limit of 5 minutes for their
online showreels. We can create multiple versions of your showreel.
Ask us for details.
Can you transfer my old showreel from VHS?
We can do this, but the quality is likely to be poor. We would suggest
re-editing the showreel from the original sources.
Can I have a version to put online?
An online version is available for an additional fee. Note that
if you want your showreel on the Spotlight website, you may send
them a video DVD of up to 5 minutes long. CastNet require the showreel
as an AVI/MPEG file on a CD/DVD-ROM (5 minutes maximum). CastNet
tell us that actors with a showreel on their website are 4.5 times
more likely to get a casting for film and TV work.
Do I receive a master copy of the showreel?
The DVD you are provided with can be used as a master copy, or for
an additional fee we can provide an additional master on MiniDV.
Please indicate your preference in the form above as we cannot guarantee
stocks without warning.
Will my DVD play in America?
America uses a different video standard to Europe, NTSC instead
of PAL. We can provide showreel DVDs in the American NTSC format,
but note that there will be a one-off fee to convert the video (see ).
Can you archive my raw footage for re-edits?
We do this as standard. Your material is archived so that you can
return in the future and the process of adding additional material
to your showreel will be much quicker, easier and therefore cheaper.
How much for duplication (multiple copies)?
There is a sliding scale for duplicate DVD copies (see ). Also see below for how our prices compare.

Why don't you put the DVD Video logo on your DVDs?
The DVD Video logo found on most commercial DVDs is a copyrighted
image which guarantees DVD format compliance and is legal to use
only when a DVD disc has been replicated using a glass master by
a certified licencee of the DVD Forum (the owners of the copyright).
If you have a DVD showreel with this logo on it, it is most likely
being used illegally. For more information, .
